Often when I meet with a customer two thoughts come into my mind. What does the customer really want for their website and secondly do I have a design that I can re-use for them?

Why do our minds go to the immediate concept of re-use? We like to be wasteful in so many other areas of our life but when it comes to actual work we tend to limit our wastefulness. Well the answer is rooted in our nature of defaulting the laziness syndrome. This I confess is deeply embedded in software programmers and designers who are taught (an an early age) to re-use whenever possible because more often than not someone has already invented Widget A better than your widget.

That is certainly true but when it comes to functionality but functionality isn’t the only aspect of the project. Web design is a science and an ART. The design aspect requires a level of creativity that we have to muster in order for the design to be our design, or rather a design that is what the customer wants.

Where do you get the source of your creativity? In my case my creativity comes from understanding who the customer is and what they want. Typically that will begin with getting to know them and their business. My clients are typically small business owners and want to reflect their business functionally (the science) but also want it to reflect them (the art). My creativity is bound to the customer where I don’t want to apply my creativity beyond the boundary that I’ve learned from my customer. In other words I don’t want to apply a design aesthetic that doesn’t fit who the customer is.

When you sign up with LacsonPress, you’ll be assured that the design that we offer will reflect the functionality that you desire as well as convey your personality.
